Bachir El Fil is an Assistant Professor at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology. He previously served as a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he led research on sorption-based atmospheric water harvesting and hydrogel-based thermochemical energy storage. El Fil obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech, focusing on developing waste heat recovery techniques for thermal energy storage systems in drying applications. He holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut (AUB). His Master’s research focused on enhancing thermal comfort and indoor air quality in office spaces. Currently, he directs the Energy Innovation Lab at Georgia Tech, where his research is dedicated to addressing pressing energy and water challenges and exploring the development of impactful technologies and solutions. His research interests include fundamental heat and mass transfer processes, advanced materials engineering, and the development of high-performance prototypes and devices.
