Dr. Bahar Aameri

Biography

Bahar Aameri is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at the University of Toronto's Department of Computer Science. Her work is centered around teaching, outreach, and research, with a strong commitment to inclusive education. Aameri co-directs the PRISM program, which prepares students from marginalized communities for higher education in computer science. Additionally, she serves as co-Principal Investigator for the Google exploreCSR award, which supports the development of a high-school outreach program aimed at women and non-binary students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Her teaching experience spans from introductory computer science courses to advanced artificial intelligence. Aameri's research focuses on logic-based approaches in artificial intelligence, particularly in ontology design and the application of formal methods to create robust and trustworthy intelligent systems. She enjoys collaborative projects that bridge the gap between academia and industry in fields such as health, engineering, and data science. Bahar has supervised numerous undergraduate research students on topics such as Knowledge Representation, Machine Learning, and Data Science, fostering their skills and interests in these diverse areas.
