Bailey Choi-Vanos received her bachelor’s degree in History with a concentration in race, ethnicity, and immigration, along with a minor in Education Studies from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). She obtained a multiple subjects teaching credential, a Master of Education (M.Ed.), and a Doctoral degree in teaching and learning (Ed.D.) from UCSD. Her doctoral research focused on early science learning beliefs and practices among parents and teachers of Latinx preschool children from low-income families. Bailey’s research and professional interests emphasize understanding and expanding strengths-based and asset-based STEAM education while examining issues of equity and access for historically underserved communities. She is an active board member of the Teaching and Learning Collaborative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality educational opportunities for marginalized students. With 15 years of experience in education, Bailey has held various roles including preschool, transitional kindergarten, and primary grades teacher, education researcher, school administrator, curriculum specialist, and instructional coach. Currently, she teaches undergraduate Partners in Learning service-learning courses, methods classes in the Teacher Education Program (TEP), and courses within the Elementary Math Education Concentration Program (EMEC). In her spare time, Bailey enjoys exploring her neighborhood with her husband and children, and has interests in art, food, and yoga.
