Dr. Bala Dharan

Biography

Bala Dharan is a Visiting Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing in Accounting. He has extensive experience in financial reporting, auditing, corporate governance, and financial markets. Bala's research is centered on financial statement analysis and valuation issues, contributing significantly to major accounting and finance journals. He has been invited to testify before the U.S. Congress on financial reporting and corporate finance issues. Besides his academic role, he serves as the managing director of the Berkeley Research Group, where he engages in litigation and business consulting. He has held professorships at prestigious institutions, including Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and Harvard Business School. Bala holds a Master’s and PhD in Accounting from Carnegie Mellon University, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He is a Certified Public Accountant and possesses credentials in business valuation and financial forensics.
