Dr. Baljean Dhillon

Biography

Baljean Dhillon holds the NES Chair in Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Edinburgh's Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. He specializes in cataract surgery and medical retinal diseases. With a background that includes training in various prestigious locations including London and Singapore, he has served as a Consultant since 1991. Dhillon is heavily involved in postgraduate teaching, having designed the ChM in Clinical Ophthalmology to enhance clinical learning and research skills among ophthalmologists through a unique mix of multimedia tools. His research focuses on understanding the neurovascular connections between the eye and brain, aiming to utilize advanced imaging techniques to explore signs of dysfunction that could provide insights into neurodegenerative diseases. He is dedicated to studying blinding conditions like glaucoma and macular degeneration through ocular imaging, genetics, and stem cell research. Dhillon also collaborates with various esteemed researchers in the field of ophthalmology and neurodegeneration.
