Ban Al-Sahab is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Michigan State University. His research interests focus on examining epidemiological evidence to improve maternal, child, and adolescent health at the population level. Specifically, he is interested in understanding early life adversities, particularly the impacts of prenatal cannabis exposure on maternal and child health. His current research is funded by an NIH administrative supplement grant that investigates the prevalence, associated characteristics, and health implications of prenatal cannabis use through a large statewide pregnancy cohort known as MARCH (Michigan Archive Research Child Health). He is also involved in a project examining the level of participation of women using cannabis in prenatal care research. Before joining the department, Ban was a postdoctoral fellow and research associate in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Michigan State University. He holds a B.Sc. in Public Health Development Sciences from Balamand University, a Master’s in Epidemiology from the American University of Beirut, and earned his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from York University in Toronto, Canada in 2011.
