Biography

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Glasgow, based since 2022. My work focuses on decentralized water technologies within the Water Environment group. I have a background in environmental chemistry and microbiology, holding a PhD from the University of Amsterdam. My research interests center on advanced analytical tools to help understand and protect water systems. Currently, I am investigating the detection of organic micropollutants (OMPs) in drinking water and wastewater using high-resolution mass spectrometry. In addition, I am developing novel methods to measure microbial metabolic activity in wastewater and profiling volatile organic compounds. These approaches support improved pollution tracking, treatment assessment, and the design of smarter monitoring strategies. I collaborate on the development of nano-plasmonic sensors for real-time water quality monitoring. My collaborative project integrates chemistry, environmental science, and sensor technology to create tools deployed in large-scale utilities and decentralized settings. My research vision is to make invisible water contaminants visible through sensors, chemical fingerprints, and metabolomic analysis, contributing to sustainable, resilient, and accessible water monitoring and treatment systems.
