Barbara Bravi obtained her PhD in Applied Mathematics with a focus on Biological Statistical Physics from King’s College London under the supervision of Peter Sollich. She has held postdoctoral positions at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and École Normale Supérieure de Paris, supervised by Matthieu Wyart, Simona Cocco, Rémi Monasson, Thierry Mora, and Aleksandra Walczak. During her postdoctoral research, she developed statistical frameworks for inference models to investigate protein functions such as protein allostery and protein-protein binding mechanisms at the molecular level. In October 2021, she joined the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London as a lecturer in Biomathematics. Barbara's research focuses on statistical inference methods for biological systems, particularly methods for reconstructing the dynamics of biological networks and sequence-function mapping of proteins, with a current area of particular interest in immunology. Her research directions cover mathematical modelling of stochastic biochemical reactions, model reduction strategies for complex networks, and the application of machine learning and data science in biomedical contexts. She actively encourages inquiries from prospective PhD students and postdocs.
