Dr. Barbara Griffin

Biography

Barbara Griffin is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Macquarie University, Australia, and an endorsed organizational psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. She has previously held positions at the University of Sydney and Western Sydney University before joining Macquarie University, where she served as Program Director for the Master of Organisational Psychology from 2013 to 2017. Her research primarily focuses on the adjustment processes individuals undergo in response to significant work-related events, emphasizing the fit between individual attributes and work environments throughout various career stages. With a robust track record in psychological assessment and the well-being of health professionals, Barbara's projects include initiatives aimed at enhancing workforce participation among older adults and developing risk culture measures for financial organizations. She is the lead investigator on an ARC Linkage grant that collaborates with experts to investigate lifeguard performance to mitigate drowning incidents in public swimming pools. Barbara teaches courses in the Master of Organisational Psychology program and is currently chairing the Postgraduate Coursework Committee in her department.
