Barbara Lynne Kee is a professor in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Pathology at the University of Chicago. Her research focuses on the molecular transcriptional mechanisms that govern immune cell development and function, with particular emphasis on the processes influencing innate and adaptive immunity, leukemogenesis, and tumor immunity. Her laboratory investigates lineage-specific transcriptional programs and how the disruptions of these programs can lead to immune deficiencies, autoimmunity, and various cancers, particularly T-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). Kee's current research includes studying transcriptional programs that drive effective anti-tumor immune responses by natural killer cells and any critical roles transcription factors play in lymphocyte fate decisions and functional maturation. Kee obtained her Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Toronto and has held postdoctoral positions at the Salk Institute and at the University of California, San Diego.
