Dr. Barbara Slack

Biography

Barbara E. Slack is an Emeritus Associate Professor at Boston University's Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Since joining the faculty in 1995, she has contributed significantly to the field of signal transduction pathways associated with G protein-coupled receptors. Dr. Slack has a long academic tenure, beginning her postdoctoral research as a fellow at MIT and Harvard University. Her work largely focuses on cellular mechanisms, particularly those involving integrin dependence and muscarinic receptor signaling. She has held principal investigator roles on multiple NIH-funded studies, contributing valuable insights to the understanding of amyloid precursor proteins. In addition to her research, Dr. Slack has been involved in various collaborative projects, illustrated by her extensive co-authorship and network connections. She has published extensively and is recognized for her contributions in the areas of neuroscience and pathology. Her educational background includes a PhD, MSc, and BS from Queen's University, providing her with a strong foundation for her subsequent research endeavors.
