Dr. Barbro Olsson

Biography

Barbro Olsson is a lecturer at the University of Gothenburg, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2018. She specializes in teaching the Alexander Technique, with a focus on practical ergonomics in both bachelor's and master's programs in music, including classical and world music. Barbro emphasizes the importance of the Alexander Technique as a tool for developing mindfulness, body awareness, stage presence, and managing stress related to performance anxiety. She has extensive experience as a guest teacher and has conducted workshops and courses for various institutions, including for actors and opera singers. Barbro also provides private lessons to musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony and the Gothenburg Opera, helping them integrate the Alexander Technique into their practice. Her education includes a three-year full-time Alexander teacher training at the Alexander Technique Training Centre in Totnes, England, completed between 1985 and 1988.
