Biography

Barney Bryson has a strong academic background in neuroscience and neurobiology, having obtained his Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Science from the University of Leeds in 2002. He began his research career as a Research Assistant at Hunter College, City University of New York, under the guidance of Professor Marie T. Filbin in 2005. His primary research interests are in the field of neuronal regeneration, with a long-term aim of developing novel therapies for traumatic injuries and neurodegenerative conditions affecting the central nervous system. Barney furthered his studies with postgraduate research training at Columbia University, where he earned a Master of Arts in 2006 and a Master of Science in 2008. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy at King's College London in 2011, working closely with Professor Patrick Doherty. Prior to his current position as a Principal Research Fellow at the Department of Neuromuscular Diseases at University College London, he conducted postdoctoral research from 2011 to 2017 in collaboration with Professor Linda Greensmith at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. He has held the position of MND Association Senior Non-Clinical Research Fellow and UCL Excellence Fellow.
