Biography

Barry Fuller completed his PhD in the developing field of renal cold preservation transplantation in 1974. His research has primarily focused on the storage of cells, tissues, and organs for clinical application. He has conducted significant research into the biochemical and functional changes induced by (1) hypothermia in organs and tissues stored in a temperature range of 1-4 degrees Celsius in a liquid state, and (2) cryopreservation at deep subzero temperatures, where ice formation is a major confounding factor. He was awarded a Doctor of Science degree for his work on the application of low temperature sciences in 1998 and became a Fellow of the International Society of Cryobiology in 2008, followed by a Fellowship in the Society for Low Temperature Biology in 2022.
