Biography

Barry E. Gidal, PharmD, RPh, is a Professor at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He previously served as Chair of the Pharmacy Practice Division. With a focus on adult epilepsy, Dr. Gidal's research primarily explores antiseizure medication pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, as well as drug interactions. He is a Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner at the Wm. S. Middleton VA Epilepsy Clinic, which is part of the Epilepsy Center of Excellence network. Dr. Gidal obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and completed a clinical residency and a clinical pharmacokinetics fellowship at the same institution. His extensive experience includes working as a Critical Care Pharmacist at Torrance Memorial Medical Center in California. Dr. Gidal has served on the editorial boards of several journals, including Epilepsy Currents and Epilepsy Research, and currently serves as an Associate Editor for Epilepsy Behavior. He is actively involved with the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Epilepsy Foundation of Wisconsin, contributing to multiple committees in these organizations.
