Dr. Barry Mcclinchey

Biography

Barry McClinchey is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of Waterloo. He holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto, an MA in Curriculum Instruction from the University of Windsor, and a BA from the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on sociology education, employing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey research methods. He has a keen interest in victimization and crime prevention, often exploring how research can influence community capacity-building initiatives. McClinchey's work exemplifies the use of large sample surveys to gather data that can impact government decision-making processes, particularly concerning recreational opportunities for youth in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
