Biography

Bart Koelmans is a Professor and Chairholder in Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality at Wageningen University. His research focuses on the implications of plastic debris for the environment and human health. He has an extensive publication list addressing various aspects of microplastics, macroplastics, and nanoplastics, contributing to the understanding of water quality and ecological impacts. Koelmans is also involved in editorial activities as the Editor Chief for the Springer Journal Microplastics and Nanoplastics. His areas of expertise include aquatic ecology, toxicology, ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry, marine ecology, and sediment quality management.
