Dr. Bart Wallet

Biography

Bart Wallet is a Professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Amsterdam, specializing in Early Modern Dutch Jewish History. His fields of research include early modern Yiddish historiography, the integration of Jews into Dutch society, Jewish funerary culture, and the postwar reconstruction of Dutch Jewry. He has published on themes such as the transformation of prayer genres during the early modern period and the cultural identity of Jews in the Netherlands. Wallet holds a PhD in Jewish Studies from the University of Amsterdam and completed his secondary education at the same institution with a Master's degree in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Jewish Studies. He has held various academic positions including Assistant Professor in Political History at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and has lectured at several institutions. Additionally, he is involved in editorial work for relevant journals and serves on committees focused on Jewish history and culture.
