Bartolomeo works as Head of Knowledge Exchange at CREATe and is currently researching his PhD thesis. Together with Elena Cooper, he co-leads the CREATe research theme focusing on Legal History and Cultural Memory. In 2012, he led the development of CopyrightUser.org, an independent online platform aimed at making UK copyright law accessible to everyone. He is part of the Horizon 2020 consortium ReCreating Europe, which launched CopyrightUser.eu, providing accessible and authoritative guidance on EU copyright law. He serves on the managing board of Primary Sources Copyright and is on the editorial board of Copyright Evidence Wiki. Bartolomeo has previously worked in various educational research roles including a secondment with the British Film Institute. He has also held research positions at the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management at Bournemouth University and is a currently a visiting fellow. His research interests encompass areas of copyright law, particularly focusing on lawful use of existing content and copyright exceptions, and exploring the intersection of copyright law and Artificial Intelligence, aiming to develop a notion of public domain responsive to the needs of users. He is involved in several projects that tackle the implications of digitization and cultural policy.
