Biography

Bas van Breukelen is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University, specializing in Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics. He joined the Science faculty in March 2003 after obtaining his PhD from Utrecht Medical Centre in 2003, focusing on Adenovirus DNA replication and recombination. Initially, he worked in the Biology department, where he developed a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and a pipeline for the statistical analysis of microarray data. In 2005, he transitioned to the Department of Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry, where he developed his expertise further as a staff member in Bioinformatics and Proteomics. He has been involved with the Utrecht Bioinformatics Center (UBC) and coordinates Bioinformatics teaching efforts, serving as the Bioinformatics Profile Coordinator for the Master’s program. As of September 2020, he is the coordinator for the Master's program in Bioinformatics BioComplexity (BiBC).
