Dr. Bas Van Der Klaauw

Biography

Bas van der Klaauw is a Full Professor and Research Fellow at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he specializes in policy evaluation. With a PhD from the same institution, he directs the Tinbergen Institute, the research school shared with the Erasmus University Rotterdam and University of Amsterdam. His research employs microeconometric methods to analyze labor, education, and health. Van der Klaauw's contributions include receiving the ERC Starting Grant in 2008 and the NWO VICI grant in 2016, and he has held visiting positions at renowned institutions like the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University. His teaching focuses on advanced econometrics and applied microeconometrics, while also directing the MSc in Economics program at Vrije Universiteit. His research interests include Empirical Microeconomics, Public Policy Evaluation, Labor Markets, School Choice, and Intergenerational Mobility.
