Biography

Basak Kalkanci is an Associate Professor in Operations Management at the Georgia Institute of Technology's Scheller College of Business. Her current research focuses on socially and environmentally responsible supply chain management, behavioral operations management, supply risk management, and contracting information sharing in supply chains. Prior to her position at Georgia Tech, she worked as a postdoctoral associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Production Operations Management. She has received several accolades, including the Georgia Power Professor of Excellence Award in 2015 and the M&SOM Meritorious Service Award in 2014, among others. Kalkanci earned her Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 2010 and holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Bogazici University in Turkey, earned in 2004.
