Biography

Batu Gundogdu holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and has 15 years of experience in developing deep-learning models in the fields of speech, language, and medical imaging. He served as a Research Faculty in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago for four years, where he led AI efforts at the MRI Research Center. Currently, he is a Senior AI Engineer at Eva, a startup focused on building next-generation AI compute platforms. Gundogdu also teaches courses in the MS Applied Data Science program at the University of Chicago, sharing practical insights and experiences with students that stem from his work as an AI engineer and scientist in various environments, including research institutions, corporate companies, government, and startups. His involvement spans diverse venues, including the University of Chicago’s MRI Research Center, Analog Devices, Navy, NATO, and Eva. His teaching includes subjects such as Bayesian Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Advanced Linear Algebra in Machine Learning.
