Bauke de Vries is a Full Professor in the Department of the Built Environment at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and holds the Chair of Information Systems Built Environment (ISBE) group. He completed his PhD thesis on ‘Communication in the building industry: strategy implementing electronic information exchange’, which marked an early contribution to the field of Building Information Modelling. His expertise encompasses Systems Engineering, City Information Modeling, and process modeling. He obtained his MSc and PhD degrees from TU/e in 1985 and 1996, respectively. From 2011 to 2019, he served as the Vice-Dean of the Department of the Built Environment. As a scientific director of the TU/e Smart Cities program, he was part of the project team for Brainport Smart District. De Vries has authored over 100 publications presented at international conferences and published in several international journals. He also serves as Vice-President of CAADFutures and as a member of the editorial boards of journals such as ITCon and CUMINCAD. In addition to this, he is an active reviewer for numerous international architectural journals and has contributed to several externally funded projects totaling over € 17 million.
