Biography

Bauke Visser is a full professor of economics at the Erasmus School of Economics, Erasmus University Rotterdam. He holds a Master of Science in Econometrics, graduating cum laude from the University of Groningen, and a PhD from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He joined Erasmus University in 2000, after a two-year position in corporate planning and strategy at Royal Dutch Shell. He served as director of the Tinbergen Institute from 2011 to 2015, a research institute affiliated with the graduate school of economics and business faculties of both Erasmus University Rotterdam and VU University Amsterdam. A member and chair of the Taskforce on Scientific Integrity at Erasmus University, he is also a Fernand Braudel senior fellow at the European University Institute, where he conducted research on decision-making processes and governance. His teaching focuses on applied game theory, decision-making processes, and governance. Visser's research interests include networks, complexity, and their implications in economics, as reflected in his publications in leading economic journals.
