Dr. Beat Lechmann

Biography

Beat Lechmann heads external innovation R&D at DePuy Synthes. He began his career in the medical field in 1993 at the AO/ASIF Development Institute. In 1999, he assumed the role of head of Spine product development, increasing his responsibility across Spine platforms during the merger with Mathys Synthes. His leadership in Spine innovation culminated in his role as Head of Spine Innovations for Degenerative cases, where he led a team focused on exploring new treatment concepts and technologies for the surgical treatment of degenerative musculoskeletal diseases. Additionally, he served as Director of Product Development in the field of 'Soft Tissue Solutions,' responsible for the start-up of a new business unit that offered surgical treatments for sports injuries and degenerative soft tissue conditions. Beat has been named inventor on 36 issued U.S. patents and has been an investigator on 8 published scientific posters and publications. He earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Applied Science in the Division of Micro Mechanics, specializing in Industrial Engineering. He is also an active member of Advisory Boards and Program Committees.
