Dr. Beata Javorcik

Biography

Beata Javorcik is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Oxford. She is an international trade economist with a focus on empirical work related to policy-relevant questions. Her research program centers on identifying the policies that developing countries implement for international integration to promote economic growth. Javorcik's work examines the determinants and consequences of foreign direct investment inflows, the implications of services liberalization for productivity growth, and strategies for combating import tariff evasion. She has investigated the links between exporting and firm performance, particularly how multi-product firms use various strategies to compete in international markets. Her research data includes case studies from Eastern European countries, Mexico, China, India, and Indonesia.
