Biography

Beatrice Edith Monique Bissig-Choisat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Duke University, specializing in Medical Genetics and Genomics. She earned her Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in 2022 and holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bern, Switzerland, which she completed in 1997. Her research focuses on various aspects of gene therapy, particularly in relation to skeletal muscle-targeted approaches for treating Pompe disease and the development of humanized mouse models for studying different metabolic disorders. She has been awarded multiple grants from prestigious organizations such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
