Dr. Beatrice Concepcion

Biography

Beatrice P. Concepcion, MD, is a transplant nephrologist at the University of Chicago. She received her medical degree from the University of the Philippines in Manila in 2004. Dr. Concepcion completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL, followed by a fellowship in Transplant Nephrology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN, in 2011. Before joining the faculty at the University of Chicago in 2023, she served for a decade at Vanderbilt, where she was the medical director of the transplant program. In her role, she collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and enhance satisfaction. Beyond clinical duties, Dr. Concepcion is deeply engaged in the education of transplant nephrology fellows and medical residents. Her research interests focus on improving access to kidney and pancreas transplantation and enhancing patient-centered outcomes for kidney transplant recipients. Dr. Concepcion has been involved in significant national committees and workgroups related to organ donation and transplantation, serving on the United Network for Organ Sharing/Organ Procurement Transplantation Network Kidney Committee from 2020 to 2023. Currently, she is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation Taskforce, which aims to pursue ACGME accreditation for transplant nephrology specialties. Additionally, she co-chairs the National Kidney Foundation’s Health Equity Advisory Committee and is part of the Public Policy Advocacy Committee of the American Society of Nephrology.
