Dr. Beatrice Concepcion

Biography

Beatrice P. Concepcion is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago, specializing in transplant nephrology. Dr. Concepcion earned her medical degree in 2004 from the University of the Philippines in Manila. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Nephrology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and later pursued advanced training in Transplant Nephrology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, completing her fellowship in 2011. Before joining the University of Chicago in 2023, she served for ten years at Vanderbilt University, where she was the medical director of the transplant program. Her roles involve overseeing a multi-disciplinary team to maintain excellent patient outcomes and satisfaction. She is also active in education, mentoring nephrology fellows and medical residents. Dr. Concepcion's research interests focus on increasing access to kidney and pancreas transplantation and improving patient-centered outcomes for kidney transplant recipients. She has served on national committees for the United Network for Organ Sharing and is a fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the American Society of Transplantation. Additionally, she is involved in various advocacy and health equity committees within her field.
