Béatrice Joyeux-Prunel is a Full Professor holding the chair in Digital Humanities at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She pursued her academic studies in France, completing her education at the University Paris Panthéon Sorbonne and the École Normale Supérieure, studying history, philosophy, and social sciences. Joyeux-Prunel obtained her Agrégation d'histoire in 1999 and her PhD in history from Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University in 2005. She served as an Associate Professor in Modern and Contemporary Art at the École Normale Supérieure Paris from 2007 to 2019. Additionally, she holds an Habilitation à diriger les recherches awarded in 2015. Her research interests include global history, avant-gardes, visual globalization, visual culture, petroleum, crypto-art, and NFTs, as well as the digital turn in the humanities. In 2009, she founded and managed the Artlas Project. In 2016, she established Postdigital, a research initiative focused on digital cultures and imagination. In 2019, she was awarded a 3-year European grant from the Center of Excellence Jean Monnet, dedicated to the study and teaching of European cultures and images. Since January 2021, her project, VISUAL CONTAGIONS, explores the global circulation of images and the role of images in globalization, funded by the Swiss National Research Fund.
