Biography

Dr. Beatriz Martín-Pérez, Ph.D, P.Eng., is a Professor in the Department of Structural Engineering at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on experimental testing, numerical modeling, and the mechanics of reinforcement corrosion in reinforced concrete structures. She is particularly interested in integrating material deterioration models with current methods of structural analysis. Dr. Martín-Pérez has contributed to the development of wind-uplift resistance design guidelines for roofing systems and is a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Prior to joining the University of Ottawa in 2002, she worked as a researcher at the National Research Council's Institute for Research in Construction, where she was involved in developing performance prediction tools for flexible pavement structures subjected to environmental and traffic-induced loading.
