Biography

Beatriz Mingo is a Senior Lecturer in Materials Science at the University of Manchester and a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Her research focuses on developing environmentally friendly smart surface treatments for corrosion protection and lifetime extension of light alloys such as aluminum and magnesium, particularly for weight-sensitive applications. Mingo completed her PhD at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2016 and has received notable recognitions for her work, including the 2022 RAEng Young Engineer of the Year award and the University of Manchester Distinguished Achievement Medal for Researcher of the Year in 2022. Her teaching involves courses on Materials Science and the Principles of Corrosion.
