Biography

Behrokh "Berok" Khoshnevis is the Louise L. Dunn Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southern California. His research focus includes automated construction and computer-automated fabrication processes, with an emphasis on additive manufacturing technologies such as Contour Crafting, an innovative method for construction-scale 3D printing. Khoshnevis has developed multiple mechatronic systems for biomedical applications, including robotics for digital dental prostheses and rehabilitation engineering. He is a pioneer in the field of robotics and autonomous systems, holding over 100 international patents and having authored more than 200 refereed technical publications. His work has gained recognition at the national level, including being awarded the NASA NIAC Fellow title and the Time Magazine Invention Award. In 2017, he was recognized as one of the top ten academic pioneers in the Internet of Things. Khoshnevis is also committed to educating future engineers, teaching a popular graduate course on Invention and Technology Development at USC, and regularly conducting lectures and keynote speeches on the subject.
