Biography

Behzad Heidari is a dedicated Biomaterials Engineer with a strong vision for developing functional biomaterials tailored for biomedical applications. His expertise lies in the formulation, design, and optimization of biopolymers and biomaterials aimed at enhancing biomedical products. He pursued his PhD in Engineering at the University of Western Australia, focusing on novel polymeric biomaterials for tendon and ligament repair. His research has contributed to significant scientific advancements and prioritized industrial impact and commercialization from the outset. As a result, his work has led to a PCT patent, commercialization funding, multiple awards, scholarships, and numerous high-impact peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Heidari has collaborated with local MedTech and Biotech industries in Perth, such as Orthocell and Liquim, supporting Research Development. He is currently working on novel antibiotic-laden bone substitutes as part of a WA Innovation Seed Fund grant at the Centre for Orthopaedic Research in the School of Biomedical Science.
