Biography

Professor Bei Wu is a Dean's Professor of Global Health and Vice Dean for Research at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, where she is also a Co-director of the NYU Aging Incubator. Previously, she held the Pauline Gratz Professor position at Duke University School of Nursing. Professor Wu is a renowned leader in gerontology, having served as a principal investigator for numerous projects funded by federal agencies and private foundations, including the NIH and CDC. She is currently leading NIH-funded clinical trials aimed at improving the oral health of individuals with cognitive impairments and examining the links between diabetes and poor oral health. Additionally, she co-leads the Rutgers-NYU Center for Asian Health Promotion and Equity, which focuses on supporting dementia caregivers in the Chinese and Korean communities. Professor Wu has published over 600 peer-reviewed papers and has engaged in extensive mentorship of early-stage faculty and scholars across various disciplines related to nursing, gerontology, and healthcare. Her work has been recognized widely, earning her fellowships in several organizations and accolades such as the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award.
