Dr. Belal Abdelrahman

Biography

Belal AbdelRahman holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Concordia University and has a strong academic background with an M.Sc. and B.Sc. from Cairo University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on various aspects of structural engineering, emphasizing performance-based seismic design, reinforced masonry, and advanced numerical modeling techniques. Dr. AbdelRahman has engaged in extensive experimental testing and analytical studies related to seismic behavior of buildings, particularly reinforced masonry walls. His commitment to advancing the field is evident through his published work in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Engineering Structures and the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering. He has also completed professional development programs, earning a certificate in university teaching. His instructional experience spans a wide range of civil engineering courses, including advanced topics in precast prestressed concrete structures and capstone design projects.
