Biography

Dr. Ben Balzer is a Conjoint Lecturer within the Medicine & Health School of Clinical Medicine at the University of New South Wales. He obtained his Bachelor of Medical Science in 2011, followed by his MBBS in 2015 and PhD in 2020, all from the University of Sydney. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, having achieved this in 2023. Dr. Balzer's clinical research primarily focuses on addressing the health needs of adolescent survivors of sexual assault and understanding the systemic issues surrounding fabricated and induced illness in a childhood context. He is passionate about education and currently co-supervises research projects for advanced trainees in the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr. Balzer has been recognized with the JMO Teacher Year Award from the UNSW School of Women's and Children's Health in 2018, affirming his commitment to teaching and mentorship within the medical community.
