Biography

Ben Kuo is a Taiwanese-born Canadian with a US education, serving as a faculty member in clinical psychology. He holds a B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His research primarily explores cross-cultural psychology, particularly focusing on acculturation, cultural stress, coping mechanisms, professional help-seeking behaviors, and the mental health issues faced by immigrants and culturally diverse populations both in North America and internationally. Kuo teaches and supervises graduate students in clinical psychology programs, incorporating multicultural perspectives into his classes and practicum courses. His clinical experience spans a wide range of clients encountering adjustment, relational, and psychological issues, including survivors of domestic violence and political torture. A distinguished visiting professor, he has lectured and provided training workshops across various countries, including Taiwan, China, Thailand, Australia, and the USA. Kuo is also a community speaker and consultant for social agencies. Outside of academia, he enjoys traveling, running, playing competitive softball, crafting models, singing, and reading about military aviation history, particularly World War II.
