Dr. Ben Noble

Biography

Ben Noble completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford in 2016, focusing on the politics of lawmaking in contemporary Russia. He was awarded the Walter Bagehot Prize by the Political Studies Association. From 2015 to 2017, he held a Junior Research Fellowship at New College, Oxford, before transitioning to a Senior Researcher role at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow from 2017 to 2021. In 2020, he became an Associate Fellow at Chatham House (the Royal Institute of International Affairs). Noble has served as the SSEES Careers Liaison Tutor and has led various initiatives related to public policy and academic events at SSEES. He frequently contributes to media discussions on Russian domestic politics and his written work has appeared in notable publications such as Newsweek, The Telegraph, and The Washington Post, among others. His analyses have been featured in international forums including Al Jazeera and BBC News. His educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, as well as an MPhil in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Oxford.
