Biography

Ben Streetman is the Dean Emeritus of the Cockrell School of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, having joined the faculty in 1982. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1966. He is the founding director of the Microelectronics Research Center and has made significant contributions to the field, especially in the areas of semiconductor materials and devices. Streetman is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, which are among the highest honors for engineering professionals. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Electrochemical Society. His accomplishments include receiving the Education Medal from IEEE and authoring the book 'Solid State Electronic Devices,' which has been translated into Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Polish. He has published more than 290 articles in technical literature and guided thirty-four Ph.D. students in electrical engineering, materials science, and physics.
