Biography

Ben Thompson completed his BSc and PhD in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Sussex in the UK. He has undertaken postdoctoral fellowships in the Department of Psychology at UCLA in the USA and in the Department of Ophthalmology at McGill University. Prior to his current position, Thompson served as an Associate Professor in Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, where he holds an honorary professorship at the Liggins Institute. Currently, he is a Professor and Director of the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He also holds the position of CEO and Scientific Director of the Centre for Eye Vision Research in Hong Kong, a collaborative initiative between the University of Waterloo and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
