Biography

Ben Wagner is an Associate Professor of Human Rights Technology at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology. He serves as the Director of the AI Futures Lab at TU Delft. Wagner holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute in Florence. His research focuses on the governance of socio-legal systems with particular emphasis on human rights and digital technologies. His work includes designing accountable decision-support systems and exploring the legal aspects of Internet regulations and governance. Wagner has been a visiting researcher at the Human Centered Computing Group at Oxford University and is an advisory board member of the data science journal Patterns. He played a significant role as the founding Director of the Center for Internet & Human Rights at the European University Viadrina and has also served as the Director of the Sustainable Computing Lab at the Vienna University of Economics. He is an active member of the International Scientific Committee for the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Hub, contributing to the development of responsible AI practices.
