Dr. Ben Wang

Biography

Ben Wang is a well-regarded Associate Professor of Economics at Macquarie University, known for his focus on macroeconomics, economic expectations, and uncertainty, especially as it relates to the well-being of socially disadvantaged groups. He teaches economics courses at the Macquarie Business School and received a Vice-Chancellor’s commendation for his doctoral work at the same institution. With a strong publication record, Ben addresses contemporary problems related to consumer expectations, economic uncertainty, house price dynamics, labor market outcomes for immigrants and refugees, and has published extensively in top-tier journals. His research projects have garnered funding from notable sources such as the Australian Research Council (ARC) and Estia Health. Additionally, Ben is actively engaged in the professional community, having served as Strategic Corporate Engagement Coordinator for the Department of Economics and held multiple leadership positions in various economic societies. His current research interests include the impact of new information on consumer expectations, and the measurement of economic uncertainty, particularly in relation to monetary policy communications.
