Biography

Bénédicte Amilhon obtained her doctorate from Pierre and Marie Curie University Paris VI (France) in 2009. She subsequently joined Sylvain Williams' laboratory at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, McGill University, for her postdoctoral studies, focusing on the role of interneurons in the generation and modulation of theta rhythm in the hippocampus. In 2017, she joined the research center at CHU Sainte-Justine. Her laboratory studies neural networks related to emotional behavior, particularly the links between emotions and memory. Their goal is to dissect the neuronal circuits underlying the modulation of memory by emotional state, focusing on the projection pathways connecting the raphe nuclei to the hippocampus. Bénédicte’s research combines techniques such as in vitro and in vivo electrophysiology, optogenetics, calcium imaging, and behavior analysis.
