Professor Dr. Beniamin Knutsson

Biography

Beniamin Knutsson is a Professor specializing in subject matter education with a focus on sustainable development at the University of Gothenburg. He serves as the Deputy Head of the Department of Pedagogical, Curricular Professional Studies and possesses significant research experience in education rights and environmental sustainability. His research is characterized by an interdisciplinary approach, emphasizing critical social theory and addressing contemporary challenges, including climate crisis, global inequality, and democratic regression through educational frameworks. Beniamin coordinates research initiatives and has led various projects funded by the Swedish Research Council, aimed at advancing understanding of sustainability education. He is actively involved in supervising and teaching at both undergraduate and doctoral levels, including an international master’s programme on Education for Sustainable Development. Additionally, Beniamin participates in numerous international conferences, where he discusses pressing issues through the lens of education and sustainability.
