Biography

Benjamin Bell is a researcher with a focus on the Great North Bog project, which aims to monitor and restore peatlands in the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines. With a background in geomorphology and palaeoecology, he specializes in environmental climate reconstruction, palynology, and geochemistry, particularly stable carbon isotope analysis and biomarker analysis. His research interests extend to upland environments in the UK and the Mediterranean regions of North Africa. His methodological expertise includes techniques such as stable carbon isotope analysis of pollen, FTIR and GC-MS analysis, and GIS modeling, which supports his investigations into climate and environmental change. Bell's work contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and environmental stewardship. He has authored and contributed to datasets and research related to pollen morphology and stable carbon isotope data, furthering the understanding of Quaternary science and climate indicators in his area of study.
