Biography

Benjamin Cameron is a Lecturer in the Mechanics Materials group at the University of Southampton. He graduated with a Ph.D. in engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2021, having been awarded a Fulbright scholarship. His academic journey includes an undergraduate degree in natural resources engineering from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, followed by a post-doctoral research position at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His research is focused on the deep integration of computation and experimental design, with a particular emphasis on the generation of materials that greatly expand the applicability of mechanical simulation. His work involves developing new theoretical models for plastic deformation and employing statistical techniques to interpret complex microstructures. Additionally, he designs in-situ deformation experiments that integrate computational approaches, enabling a deeper understanding of complex deformation processes.
