Biography

Benjamin Croitoru joined McGill's Faculty of Management in the Fall of 2000, where he teaches introductory finance, investments, and theoretical asset pricing at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. His research primarily concerns equilibrium pricing of financial assets in the presence of imperfections such as taxation, transaction costs, and portfolio constraints. Croitoru's doctoral dissertation examined inconsistencies in asset prices within the rational equilibrium model framework. His research interests encompass international finance, the role of incomplete information, heterogeneous beliefs, and strategic behavior in financial markets. He has presented his research at various conferences, including those organized by the American Finance Association and the Western Finance Association. Croitoru's work has been published in renowned journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science. He currently serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and is the Academic Director for the McGill Personal Finance Essentials, a free online course that has attracted over 300,000 participants since its launch in November 2019.
