Benjamin is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, Australian National University. His research examines the intersections of politics, climate change, and environmental resources, with a particular focus on Australia, the United States, and the Pacific Islands region. His work spans several areas, including migration and displacement, decolonial studies, imperialism, resistance and protest movements, violence, and critical approaches to security studies and international relations. In his thesis, he explores the discourses of scarcity articulated in the Pacific and their relationship with power and politics in the context of the Anthropocene. Before beginning his PhD studies, he served as a senior policy advisor on climate change for the Australian Government and worked for several years as a campaign strategist and political advisor within the labor movement.
